A good read...although less good for the demonstrator who has since been murdered by Hamas (no big surprise). We, Israel, or should I say the elected leaders, have been naïve in assuming that the money given over to Hamas throughout the years would keep them quiet. Somewhat of a miscalculation. If there was a time for the Gazans to rebel against Hamas now would be the perfect time...
As always a great read. Whilst I was reading I was thinking whether or not you were being overly cynical and perhaps a touch unkind to the downtrodden inhabitants of Gaza. My conclusion is that there is a lot of truth in what you say but I think there are other Actors who deserve a modicum, or a lot of the blame for the last 20 or so years of pain. Top of the pile is of course Iran, followed very closely by UNRWA, next has got to be Qatar and perhaps next is the UN, who seem to be constantly trying to make amends to the world for their support in the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. Controversially, I also think Israel itself needs to take some of the blame. Back to the point, I have to agree that the demonstrators may have been demonstrating against Hamas but for sure they still see Israel as occupying their land and in my view would be happy to see Israel and the Jewish people removed from the face of the earth. All so very sad.
